Legal analysis of prehospital care services in Ecuador and their implications for medical law
Abstract
The objective of this research was to conduct a legal analysis of prehospital care services in Ecuador and their implications for medical law. Methodologically, the study was documentary and legal-doctrinal in nature, aimed at identifying, describing, and analyzing the regulatory framework for prehospital care in Ecuador and its integration with medical law and healthcare liability. The results show that, although prehospital care is recognized as a health service, it lacks a clear regulatory framework regarding competencies, obligations, and protocols, which increases the vulnerability of personnel and compromises the quality of service. In conclusion, there is a lack of a specific legal and regulatory framework for prehospital care, which is a structural weakness that limits the protection of patients' rights. Therefore, it is urgent to create clear national regulations to regulate this service and protect the rights of patients and personnel.
