Keywords: Reading habit, reading promotion, activity learning, educational experiments

Abstract

The objective of the research is to determine the effectiveness of literacy strategies to improve reading comprehension in high school youth, using the mixed methodology approach. The most effective strategies in reading comprehension were aimed at the use of virtual classrooms based on audiobooks, digital newspaper, story contests, conferences and conversations with writers. Through the applied strategies, the motivation of the students to the habit of reading in virtual learning environments was encouraged, a situation that is in force for reasons of confinement by COVID-19, demonstrating the necessary company of the family in order to strengthen the habit of reading and writing until the student achieves the habit of self-learning as a reflective conception of the social environment.
