The teacher and universal learning design for the creation of inclusive learning environments

Abstract

The modern conception of education must turn its gaze towards the postulates of Education for All and Inclusive Education. This position overcomes the reductionist view of equating diversity with disability, since all learners have a variety of learning needs that the modern teacher must know and meet. Considering the above, this article examines the contributions of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a key element to achieve the creation of truly inclusive learning environments. It responds to a descriptive and bibliographic documentary type of research. Finally, it is stated that the creation of truly inclusive learning environments based on the ULD, should be the appropriation of contexts and scenarios in order to act educationally assuming inclusion as a principle supported from the recognition of the other in diversity and from there deploy innovations and educational improvements.
